City of Los Angeles (LADBS)
Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety (LADBS) handles plan check, permits and inspections. The Valley counter is at 6262 Van Nuys Blvd in Van Nuys. The city also offers pre-approved standard ADU plans that can shorten plan check.
Hillside properties south of Ventura Blvd can fall under the City of LA hillside rules and fire-zone requirements, which affect additions and ADUs. Some neighborhoods also have private covenants or HOAs. We review your property before pricing so the estimate reflects what the city will actually require.
