Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety (LADBS) handles plan check, permits and inspections. The Valley counter is at 6262 Van Nuys Blvd in Van Nuys. The city also offers pre-approved standard ADU plans that can shorten plan check.
Homes in the hills south of Ventura Blvd can be subject to the City of LA hillside rules and fire-zone construction requirements. Older homes may also need electrical panel upgrades when we add circuits for a new kitchen or ADU. We flag all of this at the walkthrough, not halfway through the job.
